Taranaki Youth Boost

Putting rangatahi success stories in front of the region

Taranaki Youth Boost is a partner-managed programme dedicated to nurturing the talent, learning and development of ambitious school-age tamariki and rangatahi across the region.Originally pioneered as ‘Steelformers Youth Boost’ by Steelformers through Brendon Back and Brent Taylor, the initiative was created as a way to give back to the province and support young people chasing big goals. The programme was later evolved by NP Partners, in partnership with Taranaki Foundation, into what is now known as Taranaki Youth Boost.

The challenge

The challenge wasn’t simply promoting the programme – it was building visibility and demonstrating real impact.

We needed to show that this wasn’t simply a donation initiative, but a structured programme creating tangible outcomes for tamariki, whānau and the wider community.

Our goal was twofold:

Amplify awareness

Grow recognition of the programme across the region and attract additional partners to expand its reach and sustainability.

Showcase impact

Bring the stories of the young people who’ve received a boost to life – highlighting not just financial support, but the ripple effect it has on confidence, opportunity and community.

The strategy

Each month, five* school-age applicants from Taranaki receive $500 to help fund their talent.

Whether their passion is sport, music, arts or academic pursuits, Taranaki Youth Boost helps relieve financial pressure on whānau and strengthens the region’s future potential.

Over the past four years*, close to $50,000 has been invested into ambitious local youth. We are proud to be a Supporting Partner of the programme.

*Data as of February 2026.

The results

Taranaki Youth Boost has a strong and consistent digital presence and a scalable framework for storytelling, which has increased visibility across the region and generated greater partner engagement.

Most importantly, the stories of local tamariki and rangatahi are being seen, shared and celebrated. The result isn’t just marketing metrics, it’s opportunity. By combining strategic storytelling with multi-channel amplification, we’ve helped ensure that more ambitious young people across Taranaki receive the boost they need to chase their goals.
